Holders Rush will face Laois in the final of the National Cup after wins over Woodvale and Newbuildings in the semi-finals.

Rush racked up an imposing 334 for 7 at Ballygomartin Road, overcoming the loss of overseas player Lynal Jansen in the first over of the game.

Irish youth international Stephen Doheny top scored with 89 as he and Sadat Gull (67) shared a second wicket stand of 176 to give their side the perfect platform.

Indeed Rush were able to pile on 111 runs in the last 10 overs, with Alan Eastwood (41) and Niall Mullen (35) each hitting three sixes after breezy cameos from Eoghan Conway (37) and Shahid Iqbal (23).

To be fair to Woodvale they were unfazed by the daunting total and with Sujit Kalbhor (80) and David Connelly (45) adding 96 for the third wicket, it was honours even at 158 for 2 with 20 overs remaining.

However Shahid Iqbal (3-36) removed the dangerous Kalbhor and from then on Rush took a firm grip on proceedings running out 96 run winners.

They face fellow Leinster side Laois who overcame a late case of the jitters to squeeze past Newbuildings by one wicket.

West Indian professional Peat Salmon hit 16 fours and 5 sixes as he made a brilliant 114.

However his dismissal saw the NW slide go from 184 for 4 to 238 all out with 4 overs unused and that was to prove crucial in the final analysis.

Meraj hit 91 and with Siddiqui (43) and Blackley (39) chipping in Laois got over the line with three balls to spare and the last pair at the crease.

The final will take place at Clontarf on Sunday August 28th (11:30).
