Guernsey were unveiled today by NUSC as two of its ‘Hilton Newcastle Gateshead International Challenge Series' matches to be played at Gateshead Fell Cricket Club on August 9th and 10th 2015.

NUSC, a volunteer club working with Hilton Newcastle Gateshead to create unique opportunities for local community based students, face the challenge of nine matches against international representative teams in 2015.

Guernsey, sponsored by Ravenscroft, Head Coached by former Hampshire cricketer Nic Pothas and joined by former Derbyshire fast bowler Steffan Jones for the tour, will spend four days in the North East, utilizing HHonours rewards to access 5 star luxuries at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead and complete preparations for their vital ICC World League event in September.

Those preparations will include a two match “One Day International” series for the specially commissioned Hilton trophy at Gateshead Fell CC, the former 1st class home of Durham CCC and one of the leading ECB North East Premier League clubs.

It continues NUSC's adventure over the past 10 years to host events which can challenge leading international teams prior to the ICC championships. John D Holland, NUSC's Director of Cricket added “It is a fantastic honour to be hosting Guernsey before such a key ICC championship. We look forward to showcasing our work with Hilton Newcastle Gateshead to create a club which can beat the odds to compete on the field".

Martin Robinson, GM of Hilton Newcastle Gateshead was equally welcoming adding "Hilton is aware of how many tournament winners prepare by playing NUSC and staying with us at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead. I hope Guernsey will not only enjoy the tour but continue that remarkable winning record at the ICC World League in September”.

Entry is free to the matches. The local community is encouraged to experience international cricket at Gateshead Fell Cricket Club which is fully licensed and will be open from 0930 for spectators with matches on both days to start at 1000.
