Uganda beat Bermuda by seven wickets in the first Intercontinental Shield match in August, but until today, the remaining fixtures were a complete mystery, save rumours of a January/February UAE v Uganda fixture in the Ugandan press.
Today the ICC finally revealed the remaining fixtures, with the next match taking place at the beginning of December as Namibia play host to the UAE. The UAE will host Uganda in late January, and fixtures will then take place every two or three months until the final in Dubai in late November.
Namibia are set to be favourites after they finished as runners-up in the Intercontinental Cup in 2007/8 and inexplicably got relegated to the Shield tournament and the fact they play regular first-class cricket in the South African second tier competition. However promotion back to the Intercontinental Cup for 2011/12 is not on the cards for the winners.
5-8 December: Namibia v UAE
20-23 January: UAE v Uganda
2-5 April: Namibia v Bermuda
11-14 June: Bermuda v UAE
18-21 September: Uganda v Namibia
25-28 November: Final, Dubai
Venues beyond the final are yet to be announced.
