Hosts Guernsey will be hoping to get its campaign at the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 7 off to a winning start when it faces Japan today.

Japan who came 10th at the Division 5 event in Jersey in 2008, losing to Norway in the 9th/10th play-off by seven wickets, will be hoping to learn from its experience that it acquired in European conditions last year.

Suriname and Nigeria, who both arrived on the island yesterday, will face a tough test adapting to the local weather, while Bahrain and Gibraltar play each other in the other game of the day.

Bad weather may play a part in the opening round of matches, with sunshine and showers forecast on Sunday.
