The final match in the Pro ARCH Trophy was played in Abu Dhabi yesterday and saw Yorkshire take on the UAE.

The UAE won the toss and chose to bat. They lost wickets regularly with only Amjad Javed (43) and Qasim Zubair (37) getting a start. They were dismissed for 190 with eleven balls left in their innings. Mark Lawson was the pick of the Yorkshire bowlers with 3/36.

In reply, Yorkshire got off to a quick-fire start, racing to 94/1 thanks to 50 from 35 balls by Greg Wood. Andrew Gale continued to score quickly reaching 69 from 61 balls before he was dismissed. Jasim Suwaidi gave Yorkshire a brief scare with 3/17, but the result was never really in doubt as Yorkshire reached their target with more than half their overs to spare.

Yorkshire thus finished ahead of Lancashire and Somerset on run rate to lift the Pro ARCH Trophy. The UAE have played against four county sides in this event, losing to them all, though they did come close to beating Essex. It will have given them some decent match practice as they prepare to face the Netherlands in the Intercontinental Cup, starting on Thursday.
