The Turks and Caicos Islands are making their debut in the Stanford 20/20, and have been eliminated at the preliminary round stage by Montserrat.
The Turks and Caicos Islands won the toss and chose to bat. It proved to be the wrong decision as the more experienced Montserrat bowlers sliced through the batting line-up, only Donavan Matthews showing any resistance with 25, the only score in double figures. The Turks reached a low 67/9 from their 20 overs.
The target was an easy one for Montserrat, and they reached it in 7.3 overs, losing just one wicket to the bowling of Henry Saunders. This has not been ideal preparation for the Turks and Caicos Islands as they look to gain promotion from Division Three of the Americas Championship next month.
The next match in the tournament takes place this evening, with St Kitts playing the US Virgin Islands. The next associate/affiliate action is in a weeks time when Jamaica play the Bahamas in the first round proper.
