The Chennai Superstars led by the impressive Stuart Law were the winners of the 1st ever ICL. A team I thought would be the team to be beat, and so it proved. Excellent performances throughout the tournament by Chris Read , Stuart Law , Shabbir Ahmed and the Player of the Tournament, Ian Harvey .
Harvey showed just why he has been regarded as one of the best all rounders in World Cricket for many years. Chandigarh Lions beat my side, the Dehli Jets, in the semi in a game we thought we had the better of, but Andrew Hall and Chris Cairns powered them home with some hard hitting.
I didn't get to the crease but it was a great game - probably the match of the tournament and was awesome to be involved in.
In our 3rd vs 4th play off we beat my Irish teamate Boyd Rankin's side easily, with Marvin Attapatu playing a delightful knock. Unfortunately for Boyd he suffered another set back with an ankle in jury but hopefully will be back to full fitness soon.
At the end of the tournament there was a superb party thrown for all teams at the Taj Hotel and all teams got involved on the dance floor and a great night was had by all. This is the start of something very big as far as the ICL is concerned and all the players involved feel the same way.
With many more tournaments organised it's hard to see this not being huge. I have learnt a lot from my time here in India and I will be looking to take all of my experiences into the new season with Northants and Ireland.
So for the time being Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
