The EAP Trophy has been played in Auckland, New Zealand over the last week, and has seen Japan and Vanuatu come out on top and secure promotion to Division Five of the World Cricket League.

Japan were easily the best team in the tournament, winning all five of their matches. Vanuatu lost just one match, progressing ahead of the Cook Islands, who had been favourites to join Japan in WCL Division Five. The final and 3rd/5th place play-offs were not played due to a remarkable display of common sense from the ICC, which saw them play the rained off matches on the final day.

Top individual score of the tournament came from Sipiliona Tua who scored 92 for Samoa, against Japan, whilst there four five-wicket hauls, the best of them being 5/16 from the Cook Islands' Tinolei Etita.

Japan and Vanuatu now prepare to travel to Jersey in May 2008 for Division Five of the World Cricket League. Some of their players will be playing for a combined East Asia/Pacific team in the Australian Country Cricket Championship next month.
