David Hemp broke out of his batting slump with an unbeaten 95 as Bermuda built a respectable total of 232 for six wickets at the close of the first day of its four day Intercontinental match against Kenya.

Bermuda, missing Lionel Cann after he was sent home in disgrace, had a disastrous start when it lost two wickets with just one run on the board before Hemp and Arthur Pitcher Jr. (run our for 19) steadied the ship to 35-3.

Hemp went on to partner James Celestine (37), captain Irving Romaine (42) and Janeiro Tucker (33) before ending the day with Dwayne Leverock (one not out).

T. Odoyo took two wickets for 31 runs off 12 overs, three of which were maidens, while P. Ongondo was Kenya's efficient workhorse with one wicket for 27 runs off 17 overs, including eight maidens.
