MCC is sending a strong touring party to east Africa, to visit Tanzania and Malawi. A 16-strong group, lead by Lt. Col Tim Lerwill OBE, will play their first match in Zanzibar on Friday 28th September.

The team will be captained by former Victoria top-order batsman, Michael Foster and also includes players from MCC University Centres of Cricketing Excellence. Kunal Jogia (Cambridge) and Daniel Pratt (Loughborough) will represent the UCCE as well as MCC. Daniel has also played for Surrey and, more recently, Leicestershire's Second XI. Kunal has also caught Leicestershire's eye and will be making his touring debut for MCC.

Simon Cook brings more first-class experience to the squad. Simon has played over 100 first-class matches for Middlesex and Kent and also boasts that rare English experience, beating Australia. He was part of the Middlesex team which beat the Australians at Lord's in 2001.

Cricket in Tanzania dates back to 1890, when the British Navy took part in the first recorded game there, on the island of Zanzibar. MCC's touring party will also start in Zanzibar taking on a Zanzibar Select XI in a Twenty20 match. They then move on to the capital, Dar es Salaam for a 50 overs game. More matches against a Tanzania XI and U19 side follow before the party move on to Malawi for three more matches.
