The first Americas Women's championship may be under-way in King City at the moment, but the expansion of women's cricket in the region still continues.

In September, the Argentine women's team will travel to Curitiba, the largest city in southern Brazil, to play the Brazil women's side in what will be the first matches for the Brazilians. A three-match series is planned, starting on the seventh.

This will make Brazil the sixteenth country to make their bow in international women's cricket since September 2006. A lot of criticism can be levelled at the ICC for some aspects of their development program, but they can only be commended for their work at expanding the women's game since they took over from the IWCC two years ago.
