Jersey confirmed themselves as one of the up and coming European sides by winning the Under-23 Division Two championship to add to their Under-19 Division Two title from last month.

The final against France was a relatively easy match for the Channel Islanders, and they bowled out France for just 80 when they batted, Peter Gough, who played for the senior team in last years senior Division Two tournament, taking 5/13. Extras was the top scorer for France with 24, and only Ali Sarfraz made double figures.

Jersey did lose three wickets to Sulanga Hewawalandanage, who has played for the French senior side since he was 16, but they had no problem reaching the target, doing so inside 17 overs, Samuel Dewhurst top-scoring with 34.

Hosts Guernsey contested the third place play-off against Gibraltar. Gibraltar collapsed to 85/7, before Iain Latin, who finished as the tournament's top-scorer, hit 66 to help lift Gibraltar to 184/9 from their 50 overs.

Guernsey had little trouble reaching that target, Tim Ravenscroft top-scoring with an unbeaten 58. Ravenscroft is only 15 and has already played for the senior Guernsey side against the Netherlands A earlier this year. He is involved with the Hampshire Cricket Academy, and is highly regarded within Guernsey cricket, and is certainly one to keep an eye on in the future.

In the fifth place play-off between Germany and Italy, Germany's star player Tahir Mahmood failed, scoring just seven, but Germany rallied to score 187. They then bowled the Italians out for just 59 to win by 128 runs. Thivakaran Aritharan was the pick of the German bowlers with 4/11 from just three overs.
