The European Under-23 Division Two Championship saw wins for Jersey and Guernsey over Gibraltar and Italy yesterday.

The Jersey v Gibraltar match was essentially a semi-final, with the winner ensured of a place in the final. Jersey's innings was anchored by 72 from wicket-keeper Edward Farley, helped in no small part by the 45 extras given away by Gibraltar. Karan Aswani scored 52 for Gibraltar, but was not helped by his team mates as Jersey bowled them out for 133, winning by 94 runs.

Guernsey needed a comprehensive win over Italy to join their Channel Island neighbours in the final of the tournament. The rain hit this match, reducing it to 34 overs. Guernsey lost their openers cheaply, but recovered to post 160 from their overs. Italy were penalised two overs due to their slow over-rate. They batted slowly too, crawling to 109/7 from their 32 overs.

This left Guernsey agonisingly short of reaching the final, and were 0.03 behind France in the run rate column. They will now play Gibraltar in the 3rd place play-off today, whilst Jersey play France in the final. Germany and Italy will contest the 5th place play-off.
