St George's v Cleveland County

Herbie Bascome and Troy Hall combined at Wellington Oval on Saturday to give St.George's a narrow 10-run victory over Cleveland team and a first win under new skipper Ryan Steede.

Bascome stroked a fluent 120 while seamer Hall seized for five for 52 to keep the East Enders on course for victory.

St.George's overcame a disastrous start to pile up their highest total so far this season thanks to a massive 183 fourth-wicket stand between Bascome and, Eugene (Calabash) Foggo.

Bascome hit six sixes and 14 fours during his 83-ball knock and found solid support from Foggo who hit 49 off 125 balls.

Seven St.George's bats were dismissed for ducks on a pitch tailored for batting. Dennis Musson jr returned outstanding figures of six for 42.

In reply, Cleveland player/coach Clay Smith slammed 60 off 45 balls in a knock containing seven fours and three sixes. However, it still wasn't enough to give his team victory as Hall picked up his first five-wicket haul for the season.

Engineering the home team's 86-run win were opener Jermaine Warner who followed up his previous week's knock of 136 with 39 while new acquisition Hasan Durham claimed three for 22 off eight overs, four of which were maidens.
