New regulations for promotion from affiliate membership to associate membership of the ICC mean that a team has to be ranked in the top two of its regions affiliates and have two wins over an associate in the previous two years for their application to be considered.

Jersey are currently ranked second of European affiliates after finishing as runners-up to Norway in last years European second division championships, however they only currently have one win over an associate, beating Germany in that tournament.

So that their application for associate status can be considered at the ICC's annual conference in June, Jersey are touring Italy in March. Italy are an associate, so Jersey will be aiming to win at least one game, thus allowing their application to be considered.

Three games against Italy will be played in Grosetto, 100km north of Rome, on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of March. Jersey have named a strong squad, featuring former Lancashire and Worcestershire player Ryan Driver. The full squad is: Mathew Hague (captain), Chris Jones, Steve Carlyon, Tony Carlyon, Bobby Minty, Tom Minty, Peter Gough, Jonny Gough, Meeku Patidar, Peter Blackburn, Mark Saralis, Jamie Brewster, Ward Jenner and Ryan Driver.
