In the first match of the series, Malaysia took on England. English openers Sam Northeast (70) and Billy Godleman (53) put on an opening partnership of 152 before Godleman was dismissed. England reached 246/7 from their 50 overs.

Liam Dawson then ripped through the Malaysian batting line-up with six wickets for just nine runs with his left arm spin as Malaysia collapsed for just 82, England winning by 151 runs via the Duckworth/Lewis method.

Friday's second match didn't go much better for the home side. They started reasonably enough with a 46 run opening partnership, but then the rest of the batting line up could only put on another 56 runs as Piyush Chawla span them out, taking 5/17.

The target was no problem for the Indian batsman, and they reached it inside 19 overs. Saurabh Tiwary finished it off in fine style with two consecutive sixes off Suharril Fetri.
