Malaysia won the toss and put England into bat. Both English openers, Billy Godleman and Karl Brown scored 55 as 100 was put on for the opening wicket. Wickets then fell at regular intervals, with a brief flurry towards the end of the innings. Mervyn Westfield stood firm with 54 before being run out. England were bowled out for 316 with two balls to go in their innings.

The Malaysian innings followed a now familiar pattern, with one exception. Anwar Arudin played excellently, scoring 71 from 101 balls. No other Malaysian batsman could match him however, with no one else passing 15. Malaysia were dismissed for 159, losing by 157 runs. Andrew Miller took 4/27 for England.

Despite the loss, Malaysia will take some positives from this game. They managed to bowl out England, and Arudin's innings showed real promise. They'll be hoping for further improvement in the next game.
