In the only match today at the AIT ground in Bangkok, the Maldives won the toss and chose to bat. With this being their last game in the tournament, both teams were obviously hoping to leave a lasting impression and Maldives batsmen Ismail Shayyal (52) and Ahmed Miftah (99) certainly did that with a 117 run partnership to help their team to an impressive 260/7 from their 40 overs.

An asking rate of 6.5 runs an over was always going to be a tough ask for the Saudi Arabian team, but it looked to be a possibility when skipper Abdul Samad started to play some beautiful shots. However, one of these shots was sliced straight into the hands of Ahmed Evans. Mohammed Adil tried his best to hold the innings together with 31, but it wasn't enough as Mohamed Sajan took 4/33 to dismiss Saudi Arabia for 122.

The Maldives thus win by 138 runs and finish 5th in the tournament. They will be especially pleased as Saudi Arabia looked to be the much better team in the first round matches.
