The ICC has invited Jersey, Norway and Singapore into this tournament alongside the five qualifying nations, one from each ICC development region.
In a somewhat lop-sided draw Afghanistan, Nepal, Norway and Argentina will face each other in Group A. The much weaker Group B will consist of Botswana, Jersey, Singapore and a qualifying country from the East Asia Pacific region.
The host country, although yet to be announced, will be one of the participating nations.
In theory any of these eight countries can qualify for the 2011 World Cup. The top two teams from Division 5 gain promotion to Division 4, to be held later in 2008, and the top two from that competition progress to Division 3 in 2009. The winner and runner-up of Division 3 qualify for the 2009 ICC World Cup Qualifier.
Meanwhile, a change in venue for the Division 3 tournament sees it moved from the USA to Darwin, Australia in May-June 2007. Group A is made up of USA, Uganda, Cayman Islands and Tanzania and Group B consists of Italy. Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Hong Kong.
