Rain denies Hong Kong
In the ACC Premier League match against Malaysia, a much stronger Hong Kong side have had their march towards victory ended by the rain when just 35 runs away from victory.
Malaysia batted first in the match and Afzaal Haider ripped through their batting line up with an excellent 8/50 as they were dismissed for 175. Hong Kong then replied with 307/8 declared, Irfan Ahmed top-scoring with 142. Malaysia then batted much better in their second innings as Thusara Kodikara scored 91 to lead them to 270.
This left Hong Kong with a target of 139. They were going wll at 104/5, but rain brought an early end to the match, the game being called off at 6.20pm local time. This has been a much-improved performance from Hong Kong, though the draw here has made it pretty much impossible for them to secure the title this year.
