Beacon Hill Park in Vancouver was the site of the first game for both the Bermuda and Canada women's team, as they clashed in the first match of a three match series, the winner of which progresses to the Women's World Cup Qualifier in 2007.
After winning the toss, Bermuda chose to bat, and Reuna Richardson led the way with an unbeaten 61, but Claire Abbot bowled well for the Canadians, taking 4/32 with her spin bowling. Canada reached the target in the 47th over with each batter contributing. Bermuda will now have to win the remaining two games if they are to have any hope of reaching the World Cup in 2009.
Bermuda innings: 201 all out (Richardson 61 not out, Abbot 4/32)
Canada innings: 203/5
Canada win by 5 wickets
