The Ontario Cricket Association (OCA), Canada's largest league held a Cricketers Night with the Premier. Guests included CCA President Ben Sennik and ICC Americas RDM, Martin Vieira. The Premier of the Province, Hon. Dalton McGuinty pledged $1 million dollars (CAD) to assist the OCA with their cricket endeavours.
In his acceptance speech, OCA President, Mr Errol Townshend stated that the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City will receive a substantial amount of the grant to continue their renovation project as that facility attempts to become only the second venue in the Americas to be approved for ODI competition.The other is Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club.
Also present at the dinner was the Hon Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Michael Colle who was instrumental in getting the government to approve the grant.
The OCA is the largest supplier of players to the Canadian National teams ranging from the Under 15 to the World Cup squads.
