At Eglinton, Phoenix beat Eglinton by 6 wickets

Eglinton 249/9 in 50 overs ( B Rao 75, N Stewart 60, C Pierce 30, D Langford-Smith 3-52, P Conliffe 2-53, R Flanagan 2-49) lost to Phoenix 250/4 in 46 overs ( R Mitchell 87, R Flanagan 56, D Langford-Smith 52 not out, J Bray 2-40, B Rao 2-62).

 

Phoenix progressed to the quarter final of the Irish Senior Cup, after a relatively comfortable 6 wicket win at Eglinton. Chasing 250 for victory, an opening century partnership between Mitchell and Hannigan put them well on course. Mitchell made 87, hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes, while Flanagan scored 56. Nandi chipped in with 26, while Dave Langford-Smith hit an unbeaten 52 in very quick time. For Eglinton, Jeremy Bray and Bobby Rao each picked up two wickets.

 

Earlier Rao with 75, and Neil Stewart with 60, had added 112 for the 5th wicket, as Eglinton recovered from 28 for 3 to post a very respectable 249 for 9. Colin Pierce batted well for his 30, while Richard Stewart also made a quick 23 not out towards the end of the innings. Langford-Smith took 3 for 52, while Conliffe and Falanagan each got 2 wickets. Phoenix will now play Lurgan at home this coming Saturday.
