That was an excellent effort from the Irish after the early collapse saw them reeling at 14 for 4. Superb half century from Sean Terry who scored fluently - certainly a very talented performer of he can get through initial shakiness when he comes to the crease. More runs for Andy McBrine down the order and a good first game on tour for Barry McCarthy with quick runs and a brace of wickets. The five-match series continues on Thursday with all still to play for.

Bangladesh A 75-3 (14 overs; Z Hasan 35*, B McCarthy 2-23)
MATCH ABANDONED! The torrential storm has caused the game to be called off. While Bangladesh were ahead on DL a few wickets could have made it very interesting. The teams play the second match on Thursday.

Barry McCarthy has been ignored by coach this season. Questions to be asked why. Maybe new man will see what others cannot.

Ireland have done very well to post 229 having been 14 for 4 in the first five overs. An agressive innings of 65 in even time from Sean Terry led the way and with the later order all pitching in with 20s and 30s the visitors must have some hope of holding off the strong Bangladeshi batting line up. For Ireland Mulder was last out bowled off the first ball of the final over finished as Chase remained unbeaten on 10.

Barry McCarthy has been bowled for 39 scored in 32 balls with 5x4 & 1x6, Abdul Hasan claiming his first wicket. McBrine is bowled last ball of the 45th over for 37 and that gives Mehedi Hasan his first wicket - all six Bangladeshi bowlers with at least one to their name. Bangladesh A v Ireland A in Cox's Bazar (50 over)
Ireland A 131-6 (30 overs, S Terry 65, L Tucker 27, A Haydar 2-24, S Roy 2-36)
A 6 from Getkate and a 4 from Andy McBrine, otherwise just singles being picked up in that last five overs. No complaints about that. I'm sure there are lots of people following muttering 'Bat the overs' under their breath - that indeed is Ireland's objective from here.

Bangladesh A v Ireland A in Cox's Bazar (50 over)
Ireland A 112-6 (25 overs, S Terry 65, L Tucker 27, A Haydar 2-24, S Roy 2-36)
Sean Terry's run a ball innings ends with a catch off Tanvir Haider - his 65 came off 64 balls with 7x4 & 3x6. Shane Getkate and Andy McBrine now at the crease with half the overs left, what came they do to retrieve the situation?

It looks like it's another lone wolf doing the business in Bangladesh today. Big effort required from the whole pack, (if that doesn't sound like I'm watching another sport).

Bangladesh A v Ireland A in Cox's Bazar (50 over)
Ireland A 97-5 (20.1 overs, S Terry 58*, L Tucker 27, A Haydar 2-24, S Roy 2-36)
WICKET - Lorcan Tucker bowled by Sanazmul Islam first ball of the 21st over - the partnership between Tucker and John Terry was worth 83.

Bangladesh A v Ireland A in Cox's Bazar (50 over)
Ireland A 71-4 (15 overs, S Terry 43*, L Tucker 16*, A Haydar 2-24, S Roy 2-26)
So five over spells for the opening bowlers then a double change Sanzamul Islam and Abdul Hasan the new bowlers - Terry with 6x4, 1x6 has taken the attack to the home side but there will need to be a lot more from the rest of the Ireland batting line up if they are to set a defendable total here.

Bangladesh A v Ireland A in Cox's Bazar (50 over)
Ireland A 50-4 (10 overs, S Terry 28*, A Haydar 2-4, S Roy 2-26)
Normal service being resumed after that chaotic start to the Irish innings. Sean Terry has scored five boundaries in his 28* with Lorcan Tucker who is 11*.

Bangladesh A v Ireland A in Cox's Bazar (50 over)
Ireland A 14-4 (5 overs, A Haydar 2-4, S Roy 2-10)
DISASTER - Not the start Ireland wanted - Jack Tector gone in the third over of the game caught behind off the bowling of Subashis Roy for 4 and James Shannon lbw first ball of Abu Haydar's second over for 6. John Anderson goes the same way 5th ball of the same over for 0. Simi Singh is caught in the 5th over and it's hard to keep up with the action here this morning! It's Terry and Tucker at the crease.

I think we're talking Ashes 2005-6 here boys. Panesar not picked for first 2 and got 10 in the last 3. Hoggard played all 5 and got 13 (8 in the second test) and Flintoff also all 5 and got 11. So not top but 'not even close' is a bit of a liberty given he played only 60% of those above him.
CLarke 26, Warne 23 & McGrath 21 seemed to do better in a 5-0 series.
