That's it from us for this week, but I'll be at Malahide from Tuesday to Friday to bring you ball-by-ball commentary on the Intercontinental Cup match between Ireland and the Netherlands. And of course, we'll be back next Sunday to bring you all the action from the penultimate (and maybe THIS time decisive!) round of the Topklasse. It's goodbye for now from Thurlede, where a rather subdued party is continuing.
Netherlands: Topklasse
And they were wrong . . .

The gap is four points, two matches still to play, and VRA have the benefit of knowing that in the still unlikely event of Excelsior losing to both already-relegated Hermes and ACC and themselves beating both Punjab and Hermes, they have a pretty big advantage in net run rate. For a competition which has been apparently dead and buried for about a month, this restructured Topklasse just won't lie down. Credit to HCC, who began well, suffered an awful batting collapse, and then fought all the way to deny their hosts the party they so desperately wanted. A great match for Ryan Ninan, with 59 and five for 48, and overall an excellent team performance.

Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 178 all out (47.3 overs) R Ninan 5-48

Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 176-9 (47 overs) R Ninan 5-48
It was actually 168 when the ninth wicket fell; apologies! Gijs Kroesen and Sohail Bhatti are picking up what they can, but barring something extraordinary this match is effectively over. 38 needed from 18 balls.

13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 163-9 (44.5 overs) R Ninan 5-48
Rens van Troost is the next to go, bowled by Ninan trying to hit to leg. But HCC were convinced that they had Gijs Kroesen caught behind down the leg side in the previous over, from Jonkman. They are nevertheless on the brink of a notable victory.
6:27 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 163-8 (43.1 overs) R Ninan 4-45
David Woutersen and Gijs Kroesen carry on the fight, every shot cheered to the echo by the denizens of the beer bar. But then Jonkman returns, his first ball is full, hits Woutersen on the pad, and umpire Hilhorst's finger goes up. Rens van Troost comes in.
6:20 PM
13 August
ACC v Quick
ACC 213-7 (50 overs)
Quick 200-6 (50 overs)
They can't. Quick fall 14 short of the win. ACC safe, Hermes out, all eyes on Thurlede.
6:19 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 151-7 (40.5 overs) R Ninan 4-39
Adam Woutersen is dropped at point off his first ball, much to the glee of the Excelsior fans inhabiting the beer bar. They're even happier when he hoicks his third through midwicket for four, but fall silent as he's given LBW from the next.
6:18 PM
13 August
Punjab v Hermes
Punjab 195-8 (50 overs)
Hermes 196-3 (43.3 overs)
Dan ter Braak has seen Hermes home in quick time, he finishes unbeaten on 74 and will be off to Ireland. But unless Quick can find 19 off the last over it will be in a lost cause.

13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)

6:13 PM
13 August
ACC v Quick
ACC 213-7 (50 overs)
Quick 195-6 (49 overs)

Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 132-5 (36.4 overs)

6:01 PM
13 August
Punjab v Hermes
Punjab 195-8 (50 overs)
Hermes 158-3 (40 overs)
Ter Braak brings up his fifty, he's rather at risk of simultaneously batting his way into the national team and batting his way into missing the flight to Ireland.
5:55 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 125-4 (35 overs)
The asking rate has risen to almost six, and Hilditch (who so far has 19 from 63 deliveries) really needs to push on here. De Lange and Klaus have now bowled out, but Overdijk and Jonkman have overs in hand, and of course there's Ninan.
5:51 PM
13 August
ACC v Quick
ACC 213-7 (50 overs)
Quick 152-5 (41 overs)
Saqib strikes, Mol gone, Barresi in with van Schelven now. Quick with ten men today of course so just 4 wickets to get.
5:42 PM
13 August
Punjab v Hermes
Punjab 195-8 (50 overs)
Hermes 127-3 (35 overs)
Statham brings up his half century but then gone for 52. Pressure on Dan ter Braak now. Still 69 to get.

13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 118-4 (32.2 overs)
Another one goes: Heggelman guides his first delivery to third man, there's a dreadful mix-up, and he winds up stranded in mid-pitch as Hilditch pushes for a second.
5:38 PM
13 August
ACC v Quick
ACC 213-7 (50 overs)
Quick 146-4 (40 overs)
Mol and van Schelven in for Quick, Barresi still to come, just under sevens needed from the last ten.
5:36 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 115-3 (32 overs)
A deserved reward for De Lange: Ingram tries to force him through mid-off, and Van Kessel dives forward to grab the catch. Tom Heggelman joins Hilditch.
5:29 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 108-2 (30 overs)
Some excellent fielding from HCC to keep up the pressure, and De Lange is causing the batsmen problems. 106 needed from the last 20, which ought to be a cakewalk. It's wickets that HCC need; it's hard to see them exerting a stranglehold for long.
5:23 PM
13 August
ACC v Quick
ACC 213-7 (50 overs)
Quick 126-4 (37 overs)
Bredenkamp goes for 65, still anyone's game at het Loopveld.
5:21 PM
13 August
Punjab v Hermes
Punjab 195-8 (50 overs)
Hermes 104-2 (30 overs)
A fifty partnership between Statham and ter Braak has put Hermes in a decent position at het Zomercomplex. Could the relegation contest survive another week?
5:19 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 104-2 (28 overs)
And Ingram evidently decides that enough is enough, smacking Klaus high and handsome over wide long on for six. As the partnership continues gaps start to appear in the field, but De Lange is maintaining a good line from the Pavilion End.
5:10 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 89-2 (25 overs)
Slowly but surely, the pressure is building. De Lange replaces Jonkman, and he and Klaus bowl back-to-back maidens. The trickle of singles continues, but Excelsior niow need 125 off 25 overs. With plenty of wickets in hand that shouldn't be a problem, but this partnership is crucial for the leaders.
5:07 PM
13 August
ACC v Quick
ACC 213-7 (50 overs)
Quick 101-3 (31 overs)
Fifty for Beredenkamp, Quick about where they want to be after 31, but the game very much in the balance.
4:51 PM
13 August
HBS v VRA
HBS 194 all out (49.2 overs)
VRA 195-2 (30.4 overs)
And done. Excelsior will need to win it themselves if they want to become champions today. Cooper unbeaten on 62, Szwarczynski on 44. Comfortable win for VRA but they'll need HCC to find some wickets soon at Thurlede if they are to stay in arithmetic contention for the title.
4:49 PM
13 August
HBS v VRA
HBS 194 all out (49.2 overs)
VRA 185-2 (30 overs)
Cooper and Szwarczynski look to be wrapping this up for VRA, they're on 62 and 34 respectively.
4:47 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 79-2 (20 overs)
It seems that Ingram and Hilditch are fully aware of the responsibility which rests on their shoulders, as with Jonkman and Klaus operating the scoring has slowed to barely a trickle. Both are on the spot, and the batsmen are intent on survival. A flick off his toes for a couple by Hilditch relieves the pressure a little.
4:45 PM
13 August
Punjab v Hermes
Punjab 195-8 (50 overs)
Hermes 52-2 (20 overs)
Myburgh goes, caught behind. And still nearly 150 runs to get.
A family affair at ACC

HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 74-2 (16.2 overs)
Verhagen's somewhat tortured stay at the wicket comes to an end as Olivier Klaus comes into the attack and traps him in front with his second delivery. James Hilditch joins Ingram, but first they take a drink.

13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)
VOC 181-3 (35 overs)
And a final flourish from Jewell going over long on doesn't have anywhere near the legs, Gravesande comes round to take a fine sliding catch. Van Baren in to finish it off.
4:23 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 71-1 (15 overs)
Ingram plants Ninan over long on for six, but Jonkman bowls another tidy over at the other end. Verhagen continues to live dangerously, surviving another big LBW appeal and edging short of Vandiar at slip.
4:20 PM
13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)
VOC 180-2 (34 overs)
And fifty for Jewell too, just four won't be long now.

Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 58-1 (12 overs)
Ninan gets the breakthrough, as Etman, on 29, gets a leading edge and the bowler himself runs to his left to pouch the catch. Lorenzo Ingram joins Verhagen, who plays out a maiden off Jonkman.
4:03 PM
13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)
VOC 154-2 (30 overs)
Still Jewell and O'Dowd, the former on 43 and the latter bringing up a half century pulling Vimal Tewari hard through square. 150 up and Dosti desperately need to break this partnership.
4:03 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 56-0 (10 overs)
Having survived a couple of chances to Ninan at slip, the second fairly straightforward, Verhagen launches a pre-emptive strike on the spinner, cracking him back over his head for two boundaries and sweeping him for a couple in between. Mark Jonkman comes on from the Pavilion End, and another one goes down as Verhagen edges him to Vandiar at second slip. The following ball is edged again, but this one's along the ground between first and second and all the way to the boundary. That's really rubbing it in!
4:01 PM
13 August
Punjab v Hermes
Punjab 195-8 (50 overs)
Hermes 28-1 (10 overs)
Borrani gone early, Statham and Myburgh in and much depends on them, and as I type the latter is dropped second slip. Hermes will hope it turns out costly.

13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)
VOC 111-2 (26 overs)
O'Dowd brings up the fifty partnership with a straight drive off Tewarie for four. Nelson on the board after 26 and this pair look well set. Just van Baren to come after this so far as recognised batsmen go though. Dosti will feel they're just a couple of wickets away.
3:46 PM
13 August
HBS v VRA
HBS 194 all out (49.2 overs)
VRA 83-1 (15 overs)

ACC 213-7 (50 overs)
Quick 28-1 (10 overs)
Stokkers falls early in the chase, Bredenkamp and Rooda in.
3:39 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs)
Excelsior 13-0 (4 overs)
A good straight drive from Etman off Overdijk produces the first boundary of the innings. Then De Lange, and the whole HCC team, is convinced that Verhagen has got an edge through to the keeper, and when it's not given they leave no-one in any doubt about how they feel about it. Etman lofts Overdijk over mid-on for four in the next over, which doesn't help the mood in the field.
3:33 PM
13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)
VOC 90-2 (22 overs)
Tearie brings himself on and should have had a wicket first ball, lofted drive from Jewell toward long on but spilled. Next ball is driven uppishly toward the other long on but doesn't quite carry. Three from it and drinks.

3:11 PM
13 August
HBS v VRA
HBS 194 all out (49.2 overs)
VRA 41-1 (6 overs)

2:59 PM
13 August
Dosti v VOC

VOC 56-2 (11 overs)

Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)

2:45 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 213 all out (48.1 overs) JD Vandiar 77, R Ninan 59; TJ Heggelman 4-44
And the collapse is complete, with Klaus well caught by David Woutersen at mid-off to give his skipper figures of four for 44, and Joost van Kessel bowled by Bhatti to finish it off. HCC's last seven wickets fell for 20 runs, and they will feel very disappointed after having been cruising at 193 for three.
2:35 PM
13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)
VOC 22-0 (4 overs)
Free and Schoonheim start aggressively, the latter lifting Masood back over his head and over the sight screen for a sizeable six on the last ball of the fourth.
2:33 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 202-8 (46 overs) JD Vandiar 77, R Ninan 59; TJ Heggelman 3-38
HCC's middle-order collapse continues as Felix Vecchi is bowled by Bhatti, and Jonkman comes down the wicket to Heggelman and sees his off stump rocked back. Three deliveries later, Floris de Lange becomes a third victim for Heggelman, and suddenly even 220 looks very remote indeed.
2:29 PM
13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)
VOC 6-0 (3 overs)
And we're back in action here, Free and Schoonheim opening for VOC, Hans and Masood sharing the new ball. Incidentally, whilst Quick are at het Loopveld with ten men, the eleventh is enjoying the game here. Asief Hoseinbaks won't be turning out for Quick again this season, being unable to come to an understanding with skipper Jeroen Brand regarding how much he ought to bowl.
2:24 PM
13 August
ACC v Quick
ACC 213-7 (50 overs)
ACC meanwhile, having been 28-3, recovered to post 213-7 from their 50 overs. Saqib Zulfiqar's 90 and his dad's unbeaten 76 providing the bulk of the runs.
2:23 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 198-5 (44 overs) JD Vandiar 77, R Ninan 59
Misfortune for Ninan, as he comes looking for a single to Ingram at extra cover, and with only one stump to aim at he produces a sensational run out. Ninan's 59 came from just 57 deliveries. Next ball Overdijk tickles Heggelman down the leg side and Verhagen takes a very good low catch. Jonkman and Vecchi at the crease now.
2:23 PM
13 August
 Bertus de JongCricketEurope Netherlands
And a bit of Hoofdklasse news, Sparta 1888 knocked over HCC second for 66 this morning, and have close out the win comfortably. That makes them 2017 Hoofdklasse Champions, and will see them promoted to the Topklasse next season.

Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 193-3 (43 overs) JD Vandiar 77, R Ninan 56*

2:14 PM
13 August
HBS v VRA
HBS194 all out (49.2 overs)
Quite a recovery from HBS, they've posted 194 before being bowled out in the 50th after being 33-4. Julian de Mey with 37 not out down the order.
2:06 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 168-3 (40 overs) JD Vandiar 77, R Ninan 41*
Heggelman is ringing the changes with his bowling, almost in T20 mode, but Ninan is progressing steadily in company with Hidde Overdijk. Whether HCC can get to the 240 they were on for at one stage is, however, debatable now that Vandiar has gone.
2:03 PM

Sorry, misplaced that 7 there. 173-5 obviously.

Something of a recovery for HBS, 159 now for the loss of just one more wicket. No further details.
1:42 PM
13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 183 all out (36 overs)
And Baker wraps it up, Hafeez bowled looking to go over long on. Baker finishes with 6-38.
1:40 PM
13 August
Excelsior '20 Schiedam vs HCC
HCC 135-3 (34 overs) JD Vandiar 77
It's pretty competitive out there. Ingram is called for overstepping, and a lively discussion ensues about setting the field for the free hit. The umpires settle things down, but then as they take a single Ninan collides with the bowler and they end up in a heap on the pitch. Apologies offered, and then Vandiar, who has been using his feet to the spinners, is beaten by Ingram and Verhagen misses an easy stumping. The reprieve is short-lived, however, for in Woutersen's next over Vandiar repeats the mistake and this time the keeper makes no mistake. Vandiar departs, obsolutely fuming.
1:37 PM
13 August
Dosti v VOC
Dosti 176-9 (36 overs)
And another for Hanif, Oedjaghir trapped in front looking to work it to leg. Atwarie the last man, Hafeez still there on 39.

Morning all and welcome to today's Topklasse coverage. The proverbial fat lady is indeed audibly clearing her throat as we await the day's play, I'll be at Drieburg for Dosti vs VOC today for the first innings at least, though I may cross the river if events so suggest. I will indeed be keeping a weather eye on the rest of the action, and speaking of - if I may be permitted to recycle a segue - the weather here is looking unsettled. It's clear for now, but a fair bit of rain last night and more on the cards this afternoon. The Topklasse's uninterrupted streak of completed matches hangs in the balance - even if little else does.
