Well the Hurricanes contrived to make that more exciting than it need to be, the Seafarers bowling well and holding dome tough chances to take it to the line, but Gunning kept his cool as wickets fell and Rutgers'two run cameo - however reluctant - enough to see them home. Berend Westdijk's fiesty opening spell put the pressure on and an encouraging return from Pieter Seelaar kept the visitors in the game, but despite the Hurricane's questionable application with the bat, 147 was never enough. We will be back next week for the Pro-Series final, when the Seafarers will take on the Knights here at VRA. Until then this is Bertus de Jong signing of from a sunny Amsterdamse Bos.

Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 148-9 (44 overs)
And that's it, Gunning puts O'Dowd away through the covers for four, then a fine-looking backfoot on-drive for three off Barresi, leaving Rutgers to contribute the two winning runs off the last ball of the over and the match.

From nowhere this has turned into a thriller! Hans cracks it back at O'Dowd who takes another fine return catch. Still ten to get as Rutgers reluctantly heads out to join Gunning.

Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 138-8 (41 overs)
And he might need to bat too at this rate, Wiffen charges down the track at Seelaar, beaten and stumped by a mile. Hans in to join Gunning.

10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 135-7 (40 overs)
O'Dowd brings himself on, reverse swept by Wiffen for four, nudges the next behind point and calls Klaassen through for a single but a direct hit means he can keep running back to the pavilion. Gunning in. Rutgers follows Klaassen into the changing rooms to get his kit, looks pretty annoyed about it.
Keith Montague (Clogherhead)
A massive thanks to you Rod and Bertus for the seasons updates will miss the Sundays, Congrats to Excelsior on the Topklasse and Sparta 1888 in the Hoofdklasse. Roll on April 2018

Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 125-6 (37 overs)
Apologies, I thought that was Rutgers in with Wiffen, but in fact it has been Hidde Overdijk. Becalmed until this over from Seelaar, but advances to lift him back straight for four. His cameo ends three balls later however, snicking behind attempting a cut. Klaassen in now.
3:50 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 118-5 (34 overs)
Wesley Barresi into the attack! Starts his spell tidily, Five dots and then induces a miscued drive which spirals out over cover and drops safe.
3:45 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 116-5 (32 overs)
And that's fifty for Adam Wiffen, thick top edge off a Westdijk bouncer flies over the keeper for four, and then driven out toward mid off who fumbles and allows a single. Looks to be a match-winning knock from the debutant.
3:37 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 105-5 (30 overs)
Brief hold up as Ahmed has a lie down behind the stumps, must admit I didn't see what happened there. He's back on his feet now, hopefully just a spot of cramp. Westdijk back in the meantime. Rutgers and Wiffen looking steady, the latter on 45 now.
3:27 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 100-5 (28 overs)
Visée brings up the hundred with a lofted drive off Seelaar over mid on, but Seelaar has him next ball, driven hard to his left and another cracking reflex catch from Seelaar himself. Rutgers in.
3:17 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 85-4 (25 overs)
Spin at both ends now, Pieter Seelaar into the attack. Tidy from him, but then Visée gets after Baker at the other end. Six into agricultural territory for six first ball, same shot for four three balls later. He's on 16 now, Wiffen still there on 35. Is this the partnership the Hurricanes need?
3:06 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 63-4 (21 overs)
Sikander looks to break the shackles, advances to drive Baker hard over mid off. Hit's it well enough but just needed an inch more elevation as Myburgh leaps to snatch it spectacularly out of the air. Visée in at six.
2:51 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 53-3 (16 overs)
And we're back, Qasim into the attack and driven square by Wiffen for four. He moves on to 21, a fine Dutch debut from him so far. Baker from the other end.
2:06 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 43-3 (14 overs)
And Sikander and Wiffen see them through to Lunch, seven behind the notional D/L/S for the next over with six more still needed for a result. A fine fightback from the Seafarers and Westdijk in particular. The game interestingly poised at the break but one feels despite the D/L/S deficit the Hurricanes really need only one partnership from here.
1:47 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 35-3 (10 overs)
And another for Westdijk,Asad Zulfiqar feathers it down the leg side, good take from Ahmed and Hurricanes 3-33, could still get interesting here. Sikander in to join Wiffen. Baker replaces Kingma.
1:28 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 24-2 (6 overs)

1:19 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147 all out (34.1 overs)
Hurricanes 13-1 (4 overs)
Oh dear. The skipper goes. Failing in his duty of care to his off stump, shoulders arms to Westdijk on height it looks like. Most injudicious as it clips off the bail and leaves him looking a little silly. Cooper at three and pounces on the first hint of width to cut Wesdijk dead square for four, and then dropped next ball in the slips as he looks to drive a fuller ball outside off.
1:10 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen

12:46 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147-9 (34 overs)
Maiden for Klaassen on Kingma, a handsome drive off the third ball the only potential scoring shot, but well fielded at mid off.
12:43 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 147-9 (33 overs)
Kingma sees off five balls and then flicks Gunning rather daintily over mid on for a hard-run three.
12:40 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 144-9 (32 overs)
A no ball spoils Klaassen's over, but no runs off the bat. Gunning back at the other end, bowling to Kingma.

10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 143-9 (31 overs)
Zulfiqar brings Klaassen back to try to wrap things up. He's got three overs left though the hosts will hope he won't need them.
12:33 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 140-9 (30 overs)
Kingma finds a single out to square leg, and Westdijk another out in front of point. That's it for the over though.
12:31 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 138-9 (28.2 overs)
Kingma survives the hat trick ball, blocking back down the track, and then gets off strike driving through mid off. Westdijk sees out the over, Zulfiqar to continue.
12:29 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 138-9(28.2 overs)
The collapse continues, Baker pinned on the crease by Hans and plumb. Ali Qasim in at ten and out again, Hans has the edge and taken first slip for a first ball duck. Kingma the last man. Hans on a hat trick. Plenty of men around the bat.
12:25 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 138-7 (28 overs)
And another goes, Vink goes back to Zulfiqar and is clean bowled, Westdijk in to join Baker. Hans returns from the Mulders End.
12:22 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 133-6 (27 overs)
Fink looks to be taking a liking to Overdijk, cuts deftly behind point for two and then swivel-pull effortlessly over deep square leg and into the nets. Off strike with flat batted single through mid on, but Seelaar goes next ball, falling vistim to a phenomenal reflex catch from Wiffen at gully, low and already past him when he snatches it one-handed. Great take. Baker in.
12:09 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 118-5 (23 overs)
Just a couple off Overdijk, Zulfiqar brings himself on at the other end and Ahmed gets after him right away, sweeping hard behind square first ball, but gets carried away on the next, sweeping hard again but top edging high out to deep square and caught. He's furious with himself, but has to go for 34. Vink in to join Seelaar
12:03 PM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 110-4 (22 overs)
Ahmed using his feet well to Hans, down the track to turn it to leg for one. Seelaar prefers to use his extra reach, sweeping behind square for four to bring up the hundred, then reverse for three more. Klaassen still at the other end bowls his seventh, goes for six in ones and twos. This pair looking increasingly settled, Overdijk takes over from Hans.
11:52 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 95-4 (20 overs)
Ahmed looking increasingly fluent, moves briskly on to twenty, Zulfiqar brings Klaassen back from the City end. Tidy from him, just one from it.
11:40 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 81-4 (17 overs)
Ahmed pulls Overdijk in front of square for a couple first ball, and picks up two more with a looping outside edge that falls safe in the off side off the last. Just three off Hans' next, bowling a little quicker and flatter now, but doesn't look to be troubling his Dosti team-mate unduly. And that will be dricks.
11:33 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 74-4 (15 overs)
And after a couple of loose overs Hans finds his length, and immediate reward with the wicket of O'Dowd, edging the second ball behind and gone for 4. Rahil Ahmed joins Seelaar and suddenly the Seafarers are in trouble. Short leg and short midwicket in to crowd Ahmed, pinned back by a flatter trajectory for a couple of balls but then down the track to lift Hans over midwicket for three. Worth four really but the outfield is still fairly soft from the rain that killed off yesterday's game.
11:28 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 71-3 (14 overs)
Another seven off Hans and Overdijk replaces Gunning, Myburgh welcomes him with a lofted drive through mid off for four and then cuts him powerfully behind square three balls later for four more, then drives straight for another couple. Overdijk has his revenge on the last ball though, pitched up and a little wide, outside edge flies to backward point where Wiffen takes a simple catch. Myburgh gone for 43, Seelaar in.
11:20 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 54-2 (12 overs)
Tough start for Hans as Myburgh drives him back straight for four third ball to move to 27, a smattering of singles and seven from it. Still Gunning at the other end, and still no luck for him as another inside edge across the stumps for one brings up the fifty for the visitors. But two balls later he has his man, another wide bouncer followed by a perfect one, Etman fends it up for an easy catch in the slips. O'Dowd in.
11:11 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 43-1 (10 overs)
Gunning looks to be getting some movement here, beats Etman's outside edge and then swings one into Myburgh's pads two balls later to raise a huge shout. Maybe doing too much. A big outside edge clears the slips next ball for a couple though and runs continue to come. 43 on the board after ten overs. First bowling change now, Zulfiqar brings Hans into the attack.
11:03 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 33-1 (8 overs)
Etman the new bat, and Gunning nearly does for Myburgh at the other end, shaping in and inside edged across the stumps. Myburgh gets off strike next ball and Gunning looks to welcome Etman with a bouncer, but overdoes it. Wide on height, but the next ball is bang on target, Etman fending awkwardly with gloves in front of grill - could have gone anywhere but safe.
10:59 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 31-1 (7 overs)
And Klaassen finds the breakthrough, Barresi looking to go back straight and high but can only loft it to a back-pedaling Cooper at mid on, gone for 17.
10:55 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 27-0 (6 overs)
Gunning comes in for some punishment too as he goes short and is pulled away square by Barresi. Some selection news for the Hurricanes too, Corey Rutgers and young Adam Wiffen make their debuts, all three Zulfiqar triplets also in evidence, the aforementioned Klaassen and Gunning of course, plus Hans, Overdijk, Cooper, and Visee.
10:50 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 17-0 (5 overs)
Still Gunning and Klaassen for the Hurricanes, Barresi and Myburgh beginning to accelerate - 10 runs off the fifth including two straight lofted fours from Myburgh. Some selection news in the meantime, the Seafarers line-up today: O'Dowd*, Barresi (wk), Myburgh, Etman, Seelaar, Rahil Ahmed, Vink, Baker, Qasim, Westdijk, Kingma.
10:43 AM
10 September
Hurricanes vs Seafarers at Amstelveen
Seafarers 9-0 (3 overs)
Barresi and Myburgh opening for the Seafarers, Klaassen and Gunning sharing the new ball for the hosts. And after a circumspect start Barresi lifts Klaassen back over his head on the last ball of the third over for the first boundary of the innings.

Another day, another attempted Pro-Series match. Word is the teams congregated early at the Bos today hoping for a 10 O'Clock start. They won't get it, but they'll get close: 10.30 start is the word, clear skies expected all day, great improvement since yesterday.

A few quick enquiries, and yes, the match has been called off. Yesterday in fact. The ground has taken an enormous amount of water in the last few days it seems. Some optimism for tomorrow - but no certainty. So that's a wrap from us for today, I do hope you enjoyed our coverage of this less-than-thrilling encounter. I'll be back tomorrow with a little luck, though I'll be calling ahead before biking here through the rain again. Until then this is a damp and dispirited Bertus de Jong signing off from Cafe 1890.

Morning all, and welcome to our coverage of the first of the weekend's two post-season unofficial Pro-Series matches between the Hurricanes and the Seafarers. A timely start would be something of a surprise given the amount of overnight rain we've had coupled with the morning rain that's still coming down, but clearer skies are expected later this morning, and indeed patches of blue can already be spotted in the distance.

And unsurprisingly, Fred Klaassen is named as Player of the Match for his outstanding performance with the ball. That ends our coverage for today, but we'll be back next weekend for two 50-over regional matches between the Hurricanes and the Seafarers, and the weekend after for the final of the North Sea Pro Series between the respective winners in the Netherlands and Scotland. Do join us then, but for now this is Rod Lyall saying goodbye from Westvliet in Voorburg.

Although both games were pretty one-sided, we've seen some good cricket, and several of the Dutch squad for the Zimbabwe-Kenya tour have had a useful end-of-season work-out. Max O'Dowd's half-century in the official game was impressive, and it was good to see Pieter Seelaar back in harness again. Then we had Stef Myburgh at his most destructive, while Fred Klaassen, with eight wickets for 15 across the two games, was the outstanding bowler by a distance. Which is not to forget the contributions of Overdijk and Hans in the first match. On the Embassy XI side, Saqib Zulfiqar twice top-scored with 24 and 28, and Mohsin Bajwa chipped in with useful runs in the first game.

Pakistan Embassy XI vs KNCB XI
KNCB XI 128 all out (14.5 overs) SJ Myburgh 88
Pakistan Embassy XI 81-8 (15 overs) SM Zulfiqar 28; FJ Klaassen 4-5
A moment of brilliance from Barresi, who comes on to bowl from the Paddock End, Ehtesham clips his second delivery straight back, Barresi flicks the ball into the stumps, and Nadeem is run out for 19. But by this time it's really all over, and although Ehtesham resists to the end, it ends in another comfortable win for the KNCB XI, by 47 runs this time.

De Leede hammers Saqib over midwicket for four, but holes out next ball to Usman Malik at extra cover. Fred Klaassen comes in, is bowled second ball, and departs. Usman Malik bowls the last, and his first delivery has Overdijk bang to rights. Seelaar gets a brace and is bowled to make it four wickets in seven balls. Which becomes five from eight when Hans runs himself out. With O'Dowd reportedly unwell and unable to bat, the innings closes on 128. Extraordinary.

5:25 PM
3 September
Pakistan Embassy XI vs KNCB XI
KNCB XI 92-2 (9 overs) SJ Myburgh 80*
Myburgh is now reverse slog-sweeping merrily, but a more conventional blow over mid-on almost goes awry when the fielder gets a hand to it as he dives. When Ehtesham drops short, however, Myburgh pulverises it into the school grounds beyond midwicket. Then he drives square, a great shot in any class of cricket. He has a strike rate here of 200.00.

Pakistan Embassy XI vs KNCB XI
KNCB XI 59-2 (6 overs) SJ Myburgh 51*
They crossed, and it's Myburgh who smashes Saleem into the sightscreen, and next ball plants one precisely onto the rope at deep extra cover for another. Musa Nadeem replaces Bukhari, and a juicy full toss is despatched by Myburgh over long on and into the flock of goats grazing in the paddock beyound the scoreboard. His fifty comes from 26 deliveries, and includes three fours and four sixes. He likes F15 cricket.

That was a pretty commanding performance by the KNCB XI's bowlers, especially by Fred Klaassen, who caused lots of problems for all the batsmen, by Hidde Overdijk, and by Mahesh Hans. The Embassy XI will be disappointed with their total, and they'll have to bowl extremely well if they are get themselves back into this game.

Pakistan Embassy XI 81-8 (30 overs) HC Overdijk 3-17
Bajwa and Hamza Farooq seem intent on not doing anything daft, while picking up whatever they can. Farooq plays a sweet square drive off De Leede, and then Bajwa produces an even better one, off the back foot from Seelaar.

Pakistan Embassy XI 62-7 (23 overs) HC Overdijk 3-17
This is after all a festival match, and after the drinks interval 17-year-old Bas de Leede and Pieter Seelaar take over the bowling, which yields a slight increase in the scoring. That said, De Leede's second over is a maiden to Bajwa, who seems well aware that there are plenty of overs left.

Pakistan Embassy XI 50-7 (19.1 overs) HC Overdijk 3-17
Usman tries to slog-sweep Hans, but the top edge flies high over leg slip, and Barresi has lots of tiome to run round from slip and pocket the catch. They take a drink, but the Embassy innings could do without a refreshed attack just now.

Pakistan Embassy XI 32-3 (9.3 overs)
Usman Malik is the new man in, while Hidde Overdijk is on in place of Gunning. A single apiece, and then Zulfiqar cracks him through the covers again, picking up two. Whe Overdijk drops a little short, he pulls him wide of mid-on for another boundary. Just a single off Klaassen's fifth, as he maintains an excellent line, repeatedly beating the bat. Then Malik gets an audible edge off Overdijk, straight through to Visée. Musa Nadeem, another left-hander, joins Ehtesham.

Pakistan Embassy XI 23-2 (7 overs)
Zulfiqar leans back, making to cut Gunning, but he sends a waist-high return catch, which the bowler spills. Then a flowing drive through extra cover brings three, pulling up just inside the rope. A straight drive for two and a single through midwicket for Ehtesham complete an expensive over. Ehtesham next clips Klaassen through midwicket for four, but the last of the over crashes into his stumps as he tries to turn to leg once too often.
