It was a difficult season for Drummond who finished bottom of the Championship after winning just three of their league matches.

They were saved from any potentially dangerous play-off matches though as Sion Mills struggled in Qualifying One, failing to reach the position necessary for the match to proceed.

The team was a relatively settled one, with many familiar faces in their ranks. While for some clubs it may be seen as a sign of stability, for Drummond though it appears to be a case of lack of depth in the senior playing pool.

While the demise of Limavady is a hammer blow to the NW region, bizarrely it may prove to be a savior for Drummond and The Nedd if they can persuade players from the club to swell their ranks.

The batting averages of the top six show remarkable similarity with just three runs separating them.

None enjoyed exceptional years, but Andy Christie (407 at 21.42), Kyle Morrow (403 at 23.71) and Stevie Moore (391 at 23) all made the top 20 of the Championship aggregates, albeit well down the list.

Ricky McDaid (344 at 22.93) and Chris Moore (334 at 22.27) passed the 300 run mark, while a purple patch for Curtis McElwee saw him make 279 at 19.93.

Jamie Millar led the bowling aggregates with 21 wickets, but at a cost of over 30, and it was Curtis McElwee who impressed most in his haul of 20 at just over 16, which included the best figures of 6 for 11.

Mattie Mills was another who had a six-wicket return, and that helped him take 20 wickets at 25.20.

That put him just ahead of Stevie Moore who returned 19 at 30.95, while Damien Carlin (16) and Simon Dunn (15) were the only other players to reach double figures.

There's no doubt that Drummond have enough quality in their set-up despite a disappointing season, and if they can add one or two quality players then they may well soon be challenging at the top end of the table rather than the bottom.
