The Ireland annual awards show is scheduled for Dublin this Friday and the women's international winner will be one of Laura Delany, Cecelia Joyce and Gaby Lewis.

It was a tough year for the squad, especially with a weakened line-up against New Zealand who showed their class in a one-sided series.

There was good news as they qualified for the T20 World Cup, although it was tinged with slight regret as they couldn't emulate their achievement of winning the tournament, as Bangladesh gained revenge for their loss in the previous tournament in Bangkok.

The T20 format dominated their itinerary, which explains why there were no centurions in the batting, and only six fifties.

Gaby Lewis topped the aggregates, scoring two half centuries on her way to 272 runs at 27.20.

Isobel Joyce hit the highest individual score of the year (91*), in making 218 runs at 36.33, but didn't make the cut.

Twin sister Cecelia is in the mix, thanks to 206 runs at 22.89, while skipper Delany made 212 runs at 26.50.

The bowling returns were modest, with only two players reaching double figure tallies - Lucy O'Reilly (11) and Ciara Metcalfe (10).

Eimear Richardson returned to take 9 wickets, while the quartet of Isobel Joyce, Lara Maritz, Cara Murray and Laura Delany captured seven.

The team will be in the West Indies ahead of the start of the T20 World Cup so whoever is victorious won't be able to lift their award on the night.

Best of luck to them as they face a tough challenge in a difficult group.

For what it's worth, the CricketEurope choice for International Women Player of the Year is Gaby Lewis.
