After a disappointing 2017 campaign Lisburn are looking forward to 2018 and the challenges of Section One.

Former Ireland U19 international Adam Berry skippers the side who like many teams in the division have opted to try and win promotion back to the top flight without the services of an overseas player.

The players have ‘enjoyed’ an off-season of training with Neil Doak who has taken the reigns as First XI coach until he departs to coach Worcester Warriors in the English Premier League.

The squad is filled with a good blend of youth and experience and this is strengthened by the arrival of Jonny Waite from Waringstown.

A club spokesman said, “It is a great opportunity for the guys to showcase their talents in Section One and for all to get back to enjoying and developing their cricket.

"The team hopes to compete for honours in 2018 and build towards a return to the Premier League.

"We also look forward to hosting a number of new sides and hope for a good season both on and off the pitch.”

There's no doubt the Wallace Park side will be among the favourites to regain their place at the top table but a good start will be essential in what is expected to be a very competitive division once again.
