There will be fitting tributes to Derek Scott and John Wright at the Cricket Ireland Awards this year when their names will be associated with two of the most prestigious awards of the evening.

The award for Volunteer of the Year will be made in Derek’s honour and that for an Outstanding Contribution to Irish Cricket in honour of John.

The Cricket Writers’ of Ireland will also be announcing the latest inductees to the Hall of Fame with speculation that there may be a couple of ‘firsts’ in the category.

For their Awards in 2017 Cricket Ireland sought nominations from the provincial unions and convened a judging panel to whittle these down to the finalists and indeed lick and seal the envelopes containing the names of the winners themselves.

Those envelopes will be opened and the winners announced at the Awards evening in Dublin on November 17th.
