A delayed departure from Jersey last night, a missed connection in Southampton and an overnight stay there. An early morning flight to Manchester and another on to Belfast - not ideal preparation for the biggest match of the season but Nigel Jones still managed a MOM performance to claim the prize that escaped him last year.

Jones in a 126 run partnership with Ryan Hunter ensured that the CI run-chase was under control and CIYMS cruised home to claim the Cup that eluded them last year with over five overs to spare.

Early morning rain caused a slightly delayed start and it seemed that Instonians would take advantage of CIís invitation to bat first, Nikolai Smith and James Shannon putting on 69 before Shannon (36) edged CI skipper Jones to keeper Chris Dougherty.

Cue a middle order collapse as Andrew White, Jordan McClurkin, Robert McKinley, Stephen Bunting and Ben Rose all failed to reach double figures.

With Nikolai Smith 6th out with the score 143 it was to be his namesake Nathan (16) and veteran Eugene Moleon (39) in a 36 run eighth wicket partnership that clawed Instonians towards the 200 mark.

Moleon was last out, the third run out casualty of the innings, Instonians leaving nine balls unused in a final total of 208.

The CI reply got off to a faltering start with openers John Matchett and Chris Dougherty both back in the pavilion with the total only 25 and with 12 overs on the clock.

Nigel Jones, batting at three added 42 with Matt McGillivray (20) and with Ryan Hunter joining Jones CI gained control of the game reaching 123/3 in the 30th over leaving a total of only 86 required off the final 20 overs.

Although Jones fell for 80 only 16 were required by CI at that point and it was left to Jason van der Merwe, scorer of the winning runs for CSNI last year who did it again this time for his new side leaving Ryan Hunter unbeaten on 65.
