Holders through in Ulster Plate
The first round of the O'Neills Ulster Plate took place on Sunday with 5 NCU and 3 NW sides progressing to the last eight.
Donemana scored a competition record 484 for 3 against 8 man Downpatrick. Jamie Huey scored 193 (11 fours, 19 sixes) as he and Lexie Boyd 119 (9 fours, 10 sixes) put on 223 for the first wicket. Huey and Kyle Dougherty 117 (13 fours, 8 sixes) then added 244 for the second wicket in a brutal display of hitting.
In total Donemana hit 35 fours and 38 sixes in their innings -special mention to Brian Perry who took all three wickets to fall amid the carnage.
Downpatrick in reply managed a very creditable 213, with Paul Linehan making 71 and Tom Magowan 48. All credit to the NCU side for fulfillling a fixture that many other sides would have conceded.
Holders Bready are through after a 135-run win at home to Carrickfergus. Marc McCloskey hot 56 as they posted 220 - Stephen Grant taking six wickets for 53.
Lee Kelly then followed up his 43 with 4 for 15 as Carrick made just 85 - Richard Hood scoring 35 of those.
David Robinson's unbeaten 67 and 3 for 16 powered CIYMS into the next round at home to Ardmore. Lee Brolly (3-8) had the Belmont side in trouble at 87 for 5, but they recovered to post 194. Ardmore finished 50 runs short despite the best efforts of Sean Gormley who thumped 65.
Jay Hunter scored a century and Jack Carson 78 as Waringstown ran up 258 for 4 away at Eglinton. The pair then took a brace apiece, with James Mitchell taking 3 for 28 as Eglinton were dismissed for 139 - Josh Martin hitting 59.
There was a high scoring affair at Comber where David Murdock was another centurion hitting 122 in a century stand with Chris Dixon (89) as Brigade made 288 for 2. North Down made a fist of reply with Nathan Burns top scoring with 70. Ryan Macbeth's four wickets ensured that Brigade won by 35 runs despite a brave chase.
There was another close encounter at Stormont where Paddy Beverland's 82 helped CSNI chase down Bonds Glen total of 170 despite the best efforts of Kyle Moore (4-36). Kyle Magee had made 69 for the NW side in a hard-fought encounter.
Sunsun Stephenson and Adita Adey's half centuries saw Muckamore total 274 at Fox Lodge, which was 124 too many for the the Ballymagoory side - Clive Allen top scoring with 47.
Matthew Prentice's four wicket haul saw Lisburn skittle Coleraine for just 82, whihc they duly knocked off for four wickets thanks primarily to Michael Turkington's unbeaten 30 and 23 from Neil Doak.
The draw was made for the quarter-finals with ties will be played on Sunday July 2.
