Bready and Fox Lodge reach cup semi-finals
The postponed games from the first round of the North West Ladies Cup took place this past Wednesday night.
Favourites Bready are safely through to the semi-finals after a 112 run win against Strabane Saints.
Bready batted first and scored 200 thanks mainly to Jill Kennedy who struck ten boundaries to top score with an unbeaten score of 117*
Strabane Saints fought hard but were unable to chase down the target, Anji McPorter faring best for them with 40.
Skipper Jemma Rankin was delighted with her team's performance saying, ‘’There definitely was amazing scenes tonight at Bready Cricket club.
Jill Kennedy displayed an outstanding bit of batting by hitting 117 runs of our total of 200. I am one extremely proud captain this evening and look forward to the Semi Finals.’’
Also through is Fox Lodge who beat Eglinton in a close game at Ballymagorry.
The hosts batting first managed to score a notable score of 132 with Joan McIntyre (25) and skipper Hannah McLaughlin (39) fairing best with the bat.
In reply Eglinton got off to a great start with Alterine Dunlop (25) and Zara Craig (19) pushing the total to 69 off just 14 overs.
Once Dunlop was caught on the boundary The Foxies managed to keep the run scoring down as Eglinton finished on a total of 89 due to the fantastic bowling from L Blair (2-2).
Fox Lodge go on to face Bready in the Semi Finals this upcoming Monday evening while the other game sees Donemana take on either Burndennett or Killyclooney.
