Only two games went ahead this week in the ladies league with Fox Lodge and Eglinton both picking up vital wins.

The Foxies claimed their second victory of the season against Strabane Saints at Ballymagorry.

Batting first the home side got off to a fantastic start with Emma Allen top scoring with 63*. Joan McIntyre (47) helped Allen push the Foxies on gaining a competitive total of 137 for 1 off 20 overs. Best with the ball in the first innings went to Nicola Mullan with just 23 runs hit off her 4 overs.

In response, an opening stand of 55 between Hazel Magee (28) and Anji Porter (21) looked to have set the visitors on course for a definite win before the Foxies bowlers fought back.

Sarah Black led the way with 1-18, while K Bates (1-28) and Toni Miller (1-30) also pitched in with the wicket taking. After Magee was dismissed in the twelfth over, the visitors couldn’t settle at the crease and went on to be all out for 115 runs.

Elsewhere at Eglinton, the hosts achieved their second win of the season after defeating Donemana.

Donemana’s start wasn’t ideal after losing openers, Lucy Robinson (2) and Hilary McClelland (1) in the first two overs, however a partnership worth 20 runs between Rachel McBrine (6) and Andrea Kennedy (7) gave the home side a chance by pushing the total to 40 off just 8 overs.

Once McBrine was dismissed, the Holm side struggled and were all out for 67 runs due to the fantastic bowling from Zara Craig (3-15), Rea Moore (3-16) and Arianna McKenna (3-23).

In reply chasing 67, Eglinton got off to a rapid start with openers, Alterine Dunlop (15) and Zara Craig (17) posting a partnership worth 48 runs which saw the total reach 45 off just ten overs.

With a change of bowling, wickets fell more frequently due to the accuracy of Bethany Black (2-22), which gave the visitors a glimmer of hope to stay in the game.

With skipper Megan McClintock (12*) next at the crease, she wasted no time chasing down the remaining runs in just 2 overs allowing her side gain an 8 wicket victory.
