THE first game in the second round of the National Cup takes place on Sunday, a week before the rest of the matches when Strabane host Cregagh.

Cregagh had arranged a free date with the NCU for next weekend but after beating Laois last month they found themselves with a second round National Cup match to arrange.

The NCU side were drawn at home to the Red Caps but they are happy to travel this Sunday to fulfil the fixture and Strabane were happy to accommodate them – so big credit to Strabane who could easily have claimed a walk-over on the scheduled date.

In a letter to the Tournament Organiser Simon Dyke, Cregagh said: “Our thanks to you and the members of Cricket Ireland Technical Committee for the understanding of the exceptional circumstances we find ourselves in with regard to our recent ground works.”
